Coolant additives?

I've not been able to find a product like this by Amsoil (but I haven't tried too much either).

What is everyone's take on RedLine's Water Wetter, Royal Purple's Purple Ice, or another other similar additive on the market? Which do you think is best, and is there data to back it up?

Re: Coolant additives?

you should not need a additive,
we use those types of additives in the racecar (and they are all about the same) because the racecars are not allowed to run antifreeze because its hard to get off the track.

the only thing makes for the cooling system is propylene glycol Antifreeze.

AMSOIL Antifreeze & Coolant (ANT) is formulated to provide benefits far beyond those found in today’s conventional antifreeze and coolant products. This revolutionary formulation provides maximum antifreeze and cooling protection in the most extreme temperatures and operating conditions. And unlike conventional ethylene glycol-based products, which are highly toxic and even fatal, AMSOIL Antifreeze & Coolant is formulated with propylene glycol. It is biodegradable and requires no special disposal costs or procedures in most areas. Above all, its low toxicity limits the threat to children, pets or wildlife.

If you're planning to use it in a race car that has an overheating problem, go for it. With a street car, probably not a good idea. Old saying; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Re: Coolant additives?

It doesn't appear to be for sale online yet, but Amsoil has created an equivalent product (according to the "Action News" I just got in the mail). Dominator Coolant Boost looks like it will cut down on coolant system corrosion and provide up to 19 degrees cooler temps in a straight water system.

All this for the suggested retail price of around $11. (Summit Racing sells Water Wetter for $10 and Purple Ice for $15)
----------------------------------------------
Would you look at that... Dominator Coolant Boost is now available online.

Now, who plans to be the first lab rat to try it out?
